The award list of the 51st Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions was recently announced. This year featured over a thousand invention projects from around the world, with about 800 projects receiving gold, silver, and bronze medals. The research team from Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) achieved remarkable results: Led by Vice President, Chair Professor and Academician Yi Zhun Zhu, the team participated with seven invention projects and won awards for all of them, securing four gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze medal. This sets a new record for the highest number of awards won by a Macau university in a single kind of this international exhibition.

Among them, two inventions were further honored with the exhibition's highest honor, the "Gold Medal with Jury Congratulations". This special award is selected from the gold medal projects and represents a distinct honor conferred by the exhibition. With an award rate of about 3%, it is hailed as the "gold among gold", fully demonstrating the scientific innovation strength of MUST's research team and highlighting the international recognition of its R&D capabilities.
It is reported that the award-winning projects from MUST primarily focus on innovative drug research and development, covering anti-tumor drugs, cardiovascular and autoimmune disease drug development, research on new target mechanisms, and the translation of scientific achievements into applications. All belong to the category of first-in-class innovative drugs, reflecting the team's continuous innovation capabilities in original research and translational medicine. At present, the team has several innovative drugs entering different stages of clinical research, with successful technology transfer. This achievement also marks another major award for the team after winning the national championship of the 13th China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (Biomedical Startup Group) more than a year ago.
The team led by Academician Yi Zhun Zhu stated that the Macau SAR Government actively encourages the commercialization of scientific achievements, with well-established policies and research funding support. In the future, the team will continue to promote original drug R&D, discovery of key targets, and research on innovative mechanisms, and will realize technology transfer in Macau, contributing to the development of biomedical science and technology in Macau and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.
It is learned that the gold medals at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions are of extremely high prestige, being one of the most authoritative and influential invention awards worldwide. The exhibition is also one of the oldest and largest invention fairs globally, awarding gold, silver, and bronze medals as well as special prizes. Among them, the "Gold Medal with Jury Congratulations" is the highest award, which requires unanimous approval from the jury to be selected.
